Talk – Photobook Launch & Exhibition

Op zondag 14 september 2025 in Amsterdam Zuidoost organiseren we Stories Intertwined – een avond waarin queer ouderschap, kunst en literatuur samenkomen. We brengen verhalen, perspectieven en creativiteit bij elkaar om de rijkdom en diversiteit van queer families zichtbaar te maken.

Talk on Queer Parenthood

In dit gesprek delen Amandela en Chelsea hun weg binnen queer ouderschap. Samen zijn zij de trotse ouders van twee kinderen (1,5 jaar en 4 maanden oud). Beide vrouwen hebben één keer zelf gedragen en ze zijn inmiddels getrouwd. Hun reis begon met een bekende donor, die in de loop der tijd is uitgegroeid tot een volwaardige ouderrol binnen hun gezin. Hun verhaal laat zien hoe queer families zich op unieke en liefdevolle manieren vormen, en welke vreugdes én uitdagingen daarbij komen kijken.

Tijdens dit onderdeel presenteren we het nieuwe zine Beyond the Binary, dat samen met de gelijknamige expositie de diversiteit van gender en identiteit in beeld brengt. Met krachtige fotografie, teksten en kunstwerken die binaire denkpatronen doorbreken, biedt Beyond the Binary een intieme en inspirerende kijk op de vele manieren waarop mensen zichzelf en hun families vormgeven.

Talk – Zine Launch & Exhibition

On Sunday 14 September 2025 in Amsterdam Zuidoost we present Stories Intertwined – an evening where queer parenthood, art and storytelling come together. We gather voices, perspectives and creativity to highlight the richness and diversity of queer families.

In this talk, Amandela and Chelsea share their journey into queer parenthood. Together they are proud parents of two children (1.5 years and 4 months old). Both women carried once, and they are now married. Their journey started with a known donor, who has grown into a true parental role within their family. Their story shows the unique and loving ways queer families are created, and the joys and challenges that come along the way.

We also present the zine Beyond the Binary, launched alongside the exhibition of the same name. Through powerful photography and art that challenges binary thinking, Beyond the Binary offers an intimate and inspiring view on the many ways people shape their identities and families.
